The Damage, Halloween 2010: Three-Year-Old South L.A. Trick-Or-Treater Slammed By Hit-And-Run Driver, Boyle Heights 22-Year-Old Kills Girlfriend And Child In SUV
The night of October 31/morning of November 1 are inevitably rough on the crime front -- something about unlimited Skittles and slutty schoolgirls brings out the evil in any community. This year was no exception in L.A., with a slew of messy shootings and even more deadly road rage than usual.
Of course, last evening had its highs: West Hollywood revelers set the world record for most people doing the "Time Warp" at once, YouTube made its mainstream costume debut in the form of 1,000 Antoine Dodsons and Snoop showed up as the Count.
But it wouldn't be Halloween if psychos in SUVs weren't wreaking some havoc on the city.
First, an unsuspecting five-year-old on the 1000 block of East 84th Street in South Gate was shot in the head while playing in the backyard with his dad and grandpa. According to City News Service, two unidentified men fired the shots from a neighboring alley at about 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Halloween's next victim was a three-year-old in South L.A., run over by a hit-and-run driver at 7 p.m. LAPD's South Traffic Division reported that the toddler was trick-or-treating in the Florence area -- at 77th Street and Stanford Avenue (now you know where not to go next year) -- when she was knocked down by a red Toyota. Along with major head trauma and some battle bruises, the girl had her two front teeth knocked out. Good thing Christmas is only two months out.
City District 14 saw its fair share of mayhem, too, when a crazed 22-year-old killed his 19-year-old girlfriend and her 10-day-old daughter by ramming his SUV into a house
on the 400 block of Mott Street at 2701 Cincinnati Street (according to coroner's records). The bizarre slaughter took place in Boyle Heights around 11:40 p.m. on Sunday.
Pumpkin day wrapped up with a classic L.A. shooting spree. The first shot was fired at 1:25 a.m. near Cahuenga Boulevard and Hollywood Boulevard, leaving one male victim with a wounded stomach. Then the scene really got crazy at 3 a.m., when four other men
were shot by perhaps the same suspect (name not released) nearby.
