Poncher's widow, Elsie Poncher, is putting the crypt up for auction so that she can pay off a $1.6 million mortgage on her Beverly Hills home. He bought the spot from Joe DiMaggio after the baseball great and Monroe divorced.
Fred Poncher, who died 23 years ago, asked his wife to bury him face down above Monroe. He said, "If I croak and you don't put me upside down over Marilyn, I'll haunt you the rest of my life," Elsie Poncher is quoted as saying in August.
