Suspect Arrested for West Hollywood Target Stabbings

When you think of a violent rampage happening inside one of those big box stores, you don't necessarily think of that kind of thing happening in West Hollywood.  But that's exactly what happened a few hours ago.

The details are still sketchy, but according to City News Service, a woman stabbed four people today at the Target store in West Hollywood on La Brea Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard, sending two of the victims to the hospital.

The Los Angeles Times now reports that the suspect is a 35-year-old woman from Antioch, California, named Layla Rosetta Trawick.

Off-duty L.A. County Sheriff's Deputy Clay Grant Jr. just happened to be in the store at the time of stabbings, heard screams, and saw the alleged female assailant.

Grant then approached Trawick, with his gun drawn, and arrested her.

The L.A. Times reports that a "stampede" occurred at the store during the time of the stabbings, with people desperate to get away.

And City News Service writes that numerous people called 911, thinking a man with a gun was involved in the incident. They were probably witnessing the sheriff's deputy in action.

(Update: A previous version of this post stated the "five" people were stabbed at Target, according to City News Service.  CNS has changed that number to "four."  The correction has been made in this text.)
