Some of the Top Companies Where Millennials Want to Work Are in L.A.
Hollywood attracts a lot of young dreamers with stars in their eyes. But the smart, career kids want to be in L.A. too.
And the recently released National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) 2014 Millennial Career Survey Results prove that.
Three of its top 15 companies where American millennials (ages 15 to 27 for the purpose of the data) want to work are right here in Los Angeles:
Burbank's Walt Disney Co. comes in third in the nation behind Google (number 2) and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (1).
So these kids just want to relive their childhoods, code stuff, or be around children, apparently.
The other desirable L.A. area employers for millennial workers include DreamWorks Animation (number 7), which is is Glendale, and Sony (15), which has its Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City (with corporate offices in New York).
The survey asked 12,000 young people 29 questions. Nearly 8 out of 10 of these future Disney workers are still in high school, the NSHSS says. And California represents one of the largest pools of respondents.
One out of five of these kids speaks Spanish, the society says. Most are college-bound students who expect to partake in internships, according to the survey. "Health-related employers and technology employers continue to rank highly as preferred companies," the NSHSS says.
Nearly half expect to get a job upon college graduation, the survey said.
Be prepared for them, L.A.
