Sandra Fluke Headlines L.A. City Hall Rally For Increasing Taxes On Rich
Sandra Fluke, the activist Rush Limbaugh once called a prostitute because she said her Catholic law school, Georgetown, should offer free birth control for women, is in L.A. today.
She's the headliner at a City Hall rally organized by a group called the Action. What do they want? An end to tax breaks and loopholes for the top 2 percent of income earners in the United States.
When do they want it?
You know the answer to that one (now), especially since President Obama and congressional Republican leaders are negotiating to do just that -- end Bush-era tax breaks for those making $250,000 a year (or, as Republicans have suggested, $1 million).
Anyhow, what does L.A. City Hall have to do with it?
Not sure. City Hall is more liberal than Tom Hayden at a gang truce. According to a statement from the Action:

Participants at the rally will also urge Members of Congress to sign Leader [Nancy] Pelosi's discharge petition and force a vote on extending tax cuts on American families making less than $250,000 per year.
The event will continue the momentum built by California activists to end the Bush-era tax cuts for the top 2%.
... It's time to set our priorities straight: Tax cuts for the wealthy means fewer Pell Grants, fewer Head Starts and more kids shoved into crowded classrooms. It's time to take action.
It's happening outside City Hall now (from noon to 1 p.m.).
