Robbery Inmates Escape on Mulholland Drive: LAPD on The Lookout in Laurel Canyon Area

Cops in the Laurel Canyon area were on the lookout for two jail inmates who escaped while on brush-clearance work detail, according to the LAPD. Officer Sara Faden told the Weekly the two had robbery on their records.
The active search had been called off late this afternoon, but police were maintaining "high visibility" in the area of the escape -- near the 8400 block of Mulholland Drive -- Faden said.
The escape was reported to local police at 2 p.m., Faden said.
Residents were warned to keep their windows and doors closed. Faden:

Should they be approached by anyone wearing clothing that's not typical for a stroll around the neighborhood please do call 911.
She indicated the pair was doing work for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and were based out of Ventura County.
LAPD spokesman Richard French told City News Service, " ... Whoever was supervising them wasn't doing a very good job."
Update: Officials with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said today the duo, juveniles, has been captured:
The two juvenile offenders were captured late Tuesday evening at a private residence in Jurupa, Riverside County by CDCR's Fugitive Apprehension Team and the U.S. Marshall Service Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force, which includes deputized officers from the Glendale and Pasadena police departments.
The juvenile offenders - identified as Pablo Ladislow Ontaneda, 18, and Christopher Ochoa, 19 - were part of a fire crew from the Ventura Youth Correctional Facility in Camarillo. They were apprehended after a brief chase, and were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries. They were booked into the Riverside County jail.
