Ricardo Mendoza, L.A. Homicide No. 33: Fatal Car-to-Car Shooting in Watts
A car-to-car shooting between two drivers in Watts left one gunman dead and the other man in critical condition. The incident occurred near 92nd Street and Holmes Avenue about 11:35 p.m. February 28.

According to preliminary reports, Ricardo Mendoza, 27, was driving a 1998 Honda Civic west on 92nd street alongside a 2000 Ford Mustang driven by 23-year-old Robert Gipson. The two men exchanged gunfire. Mendoza's Honda stopped a few feet away, and the Mustang crashed into a nearby utility pole. Mendoza died at the scene, and Gipson was taken to a nearby hospital.
