Pro-Medical Pot Group: Defeating Steve Cooley More Important Than Prop. 19

With Prop. 19 way down in the polls, some pro-marijuana groups are turning their attention to the dead-even race for attorney general.
Americans For Safe Access, which supports medical marijuana, has launched a "Not Cooley" campaign. The group is telling its supporters that it's more important to vote against Steve Cooley than it is to vote for Proposition 19. The group is neutral on the marijuana-legalization initiative.
As district attorney, Cooley has vowed to crack down on medical marijuana dispensaries. If he is elected attorney general, and Prop. 19 passes, he has said he will declare it to be unconstitutional.
"This guy is as nasty a drug warrior as there is, and if he becomes California's top law enforcement official, it isn't going to be pretty," writes Scott Morgan of StoptheDrugWar.org.
