P. Diddy Used Kettlebell in UCLA Assault, Cops Say
Sean "P. Diddy" Combs was arrested at UCLA today after he allegedly attacked someone with a kettlebell, UCLA police said.
The incident took place about 12:30 p.m. at the Acosta Athletic Training Complex, police said. Combs was taken into custody based on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, they said.
Combs remained in custody and would be transferred to sheriff's jail officials today, cops said.
TMZ reported that Combs got into it with a football coach over the coach's treatment of his son, UCLA scholarship player Justin Combs.
The coach reportedly told the rap impresario's son not to return to practice until later in summer. Combs wanted a meeting and was denied, TMZ said.
When the rap star wouldn't leave, the coach allegedly raised his hands, and Diddy raised the kettlebell, but neither actually struck the other, the site says.
UCLA police were still investigating. Head football coach Jim Mora:
I’m thankful that our staff showed the level of professionalism that they did in handling this situation. This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved. While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time.
