No Sign of BMW Dealership on Flattened Wilshire Space
"Build it and they will come." Maybe, but first you have to build the thing. As it is, finds Curbed L.A., all that a local BMW dealership has dug is "two bald construction spots on Wilshire Blvd."
A planned dealership's emergence near La Brea Avenue has sputtered in the face of the perfect storm: Collapsing economy and dying car demand. Add to this the fact that you practically can't give land away under current market conditions and you have a trophy car enterprise stuck with the holes it put in the ground.
Curbed notes that the BMW dealership demolished a Bob's Big Boy and an Art Deco Lou Ehlers Caddy showroom in the process of preparing its boot -- I mean, footprint. The Curbed post took on a food-fight atmosphere as readers used it as an excuse to argue about luxury cars.
