Bad news for Hollywood tourism hit just as summer's official, opening weekend is upon us.
First we learned that a transgender woman was severely beaten by as many as four thugs on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Then this tragedy: A 23-year-woman was fatally stabbed by panhandlers on that same tourist strip. Fortunately justice appears to be swift:
The LAPD today announced that one suspect has been arrested in the transgender attack.
The department said Nicol Shakhnazaryan, 21, was arrested in Van Nuys during a search-warrant operation last night.
He was booked on suspicion of battery and was jailed in lieu of more than $1 million bail, cops said.
The department says the FBI has joined the search for as many as three others and that the case is being investigated as a "possible hate crime."
The victim, identified by cops only as "Vivian," was attacked by thugs at 2:15 a.m. on May 31, police said. The violence put her in a hospital for seven days, according to the LAPD.
The other suspects are still being sought. Check out the video, above: If you think you know who they are, detectives would love to hear from you: 213-972-2967
