Murder Was the Case: L.A. Homicide No. 195, Cop Kills Man Who Allegedly Shot at Him

A 37-year-old African American man was killed by a Los Angeles Police Department officer during an exchange of fire with an on-duty cop on August 9 in South Los Angeles, law enforcement officials say.
According to preliminary reports, Oran Douglas III fired at the officer and was shot and killed. The incident occurred on 919 West 68th Street. LAPD investigators have not yet determined the motive behind Douglas III's alleged actions. Further investigation is underway.
