Miguel Alvarenga, L.A. Homicide No. 36: Teenager Killed After Robbery Gone Bad in Canoga Park
A teenager was struck and killed by a car after getting robbed in Canoga Park. According to police reports, at around 8 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to a report of a traffic collision in the 20600 block of Sherman Way.
Officers discovered 18-year-old Miguel Alvarenga lying unconscious on the street. He was treated at scene by responding paramedics and transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Officers later concluded that Alvarenga had been approached by a thief on a bicycle who attempted to rob him. Alvarenga tried to run away from the man and was struck by a passing car. The suspect on the bicycle took off and has not yet been identified. Alvarenga died from his injuries on March 5.
The suspect is described only as a male Hispanic. Anyone with information about the death of Alvarenga should contact LAPD Topanga Division homicide detectives at (818) 756-3363.
