Memorial Day Weekend DUI "Blitz" Starts Tonight
They'll be looking for you.
The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department is calling its Memorial Day Weekend anti-DUI operations a "blitz." Sounds serious.
"Officers are targeting drunk or drugged drivers on this first holiday weekend of the summer driving season," the department said in a statement.
Sheriff's deputies, the Los Angeles Police Department, the California Highway Patrol and other agencies will be on full alert this weekend. So yes, get stupid. No, don't get behind the wheel when you're stupid. The CHP's maximum enforcement period starts at 6:01 tonight and lasts until 11:59 p.m. Monday.
The agency says 1,125 people were arrested for alleged DUIs during last year's Memorial Day Weekend. Let's not beat that this year.
