Lee Baca's Bad Month Gets Worse: L.A. Sheriff's Deputies 'Detained,' Investigated Following Off-Duty Shots Fired in Park After-Hours
You might call this a bad month for L.A. County Sheriff Lee Baca. He's a Teflon law enforcer who's been popular with the voters who repeatedly elected him.
But something says these latest allegations -- that deputies beat County Jail inmates, that they tuned-up County Jail visitors, and that Baca's department essentially looked the other way for years -- might just stick.
Great timing then, for the badge-wearers this week who were "detained" by fellow cops:
Fellow sheriff's deputies sent to La Mirada Regional Park in the 13700 block of Adelfa Drive early today (3:04 a.m.) based on reports of shots fired apparently discovered ... fellow deputies there. Off duty deputies.

Three cops were detained by fellow law enforcers in the shots fired investigation. But no arrests were made, apparently. (Now imagine if you were hanging out in a park at 3 a.m. and cops responded to a shots-fired call. You think you would just be "detained?").
Trouble seems to find off-duty L.A. deputies. Earlier this year reported about a 4 a.m. ruckus involving three off-duty coppers at an East L.A. King Taco.

Think we'll ever hear about this again?
