L.A. Comedy Shorts Fest Celebrates Int'l Women's Day 1 Unborn Fetus at a Time

She's pregnant, you half wit.
She's pregnant, you half wit.

As you've probably seen all over Twitter and the wide web world March 8 (which is today for you stoners) is International Women's Day. For a little more than a century women in different countries around the world have used this day so meet, collaborate and promote social change.

In 1908 a group of 15,000 working women marched and met in NYC's Union Square demanding equal rights and safe working conditions, and the gatherings caught on in countries around the world just a few years later.

Read more at the International Women's Day website. There's a time line with typos. Obviously edited by a dude. :)

March 8 became the collective date to celebrate the strides - and the continued efforts - women have made around the world for political, economic and personal freedoms.

Funny enough it falls at a time when women's reproductive and health freedoms are being viciously attacked by conservative government - and corresponding uber-influential punditry - influence in the United States.

Even the stereotypically female job of teacher is under scrutiny as a role better suited for schlubs looking for summers off and time every evening to watch their stories and see how many cigarettes they can smoke without burning the Rent-4-Less couch.

Because the job's easy and ends right when the bell sounds. Right?

We're fighting to, among other things, retain access to affordable pap smears, prevent job discrimination, keep our unions, and decide whether or not we want to get and remain pregnant. It's stressful.

SIDENOTE: If you haven't already, check out the Truth Tour, call your senators, and sign the open letter to Congress in response to the passing of the Pence Amendment to H.R. 1.

But to alleviate some of the stress, check out what several women did to celebrate their own uteri (that's plural for uterus, right nerds?) and the extent to which they can stretch.

The L.A. Comedy Shorts Film Festival is bringing sexy back one unborn fetus at a time. Watch how.
