Ever wanted some of that Vegas action without the four-hour-plus drive time?
So, apparently, did some folks in Koreatown, where the LAPD busted "several residences" for allegedly hosting illegal gambling operations, the department announced this afternoon. Ten suspects, including alleged "gaming managers," were cited and released:
The busts happened at 7:30 a.m. today following a nearly month-long investigation by the LAPD's Asian Crime Unit, according to the department. More than 100 cops were involved in this morning's raids.
The target residences were near Olympic Boulevard and Normandie Avenue, cops said. According to an LAPD statement:

The investigation focused on several residences situated within the Korea Town community of Los Angeles that housed illegal gambling equipment, including slot machines and card tables. The residences are privately owned and an onsite "gaming manager" would typically allow members of the public to enter and play, generally from mid-morning to late at night.

Officials called the alleged gaming houses a "blight" on the community, which happens to be ground zero for one of the world's largest gangs, Mara Salvatrucha.
Cops say 35 slot machines were seized along with about $36,300.00 in cash.
The investigation is ongoing, so you can probably bet there will be more police action.
