Kaiser Pharmacy Strike On Hold
You were concerned about where to get your drugs, and we're not talking about that guy you text at midnight.
We're talking about a threatened work stoppage that would have affected Kaiser's 3.5 million customers in Southern California. The Guild for Professional Pharmacists planned to walk of the job today, which would have left the pharmacies of at least 14 Kaiser medical facilities in the dark.

Only hospital patients would have been served by Kaiser. However, the health system today announced that the union cancelled its strike plans, at least for now:
A spokeswoman for Kaiser told us the work stoppage was on hold as negotiations continued. Here's part of what the managed healthcare consortium said in a statement:
We remain in contract negotiations with the Guild and hope to reach an agreement.
All Kaiser Permanente members can continue having their prescription needs met at their local Kaiser Permanente pharmacy.

We called a guild official but were unable to get through.
The union is fighting for the following: more time to fill prescriptions, which it says is a matter of safety; a minimum 20 hours of work each week for part-timers so they can be eligible for health coverage; and a return of pensions it gave up three years ago.
So if you're a Kaiser member seeking prescribed meds, you're probably good for now. The consortium had recommended that, in the event of a strike, its members should get their prescriptions filled at more expensive chain pharmacies.
