Jack Nicholson must wear an all-green outfit and tape an advertisement touting the virtues of Boston if the Los Angeles Lakers lose the NBA championship to the Boston Celtics, according to a wager between Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino.
Should the Lakers win, Boston-bred actors Matt Damon and Ben Affleck would have to make such ad about L.A.. It's not clear, however, if all the actors have endorsed the deal. (And, as far as we can tell, Republican gubernatorial candidates Meg Whitman and Steve Poizner have yet to be shipped off to Arizona as part of Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon's payment for losing his wager in the Lakers-vs.-Suns battle).
"Should the Celtics prove victorious, we will generously permit Hollywood legend and Lakers fan extraordinaire, Jack Nicholson, to don green and film a commercial touting the Old North Church, the Common, all there is to see in Boston,'' Villaraigosa said.
"Should the Lakers prevail, we will gladly accept your hometown boys, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, as spokespersons for a public service announcement extolling the virtues of the city of Los Angeles, where the climate, the beaches, and the food are far superior,'' he said.
