Here's how one midsummer's nightmare goes:
You're driving along after you had too many drinks and you see flashing blue and red lights in your rear view mirror. Woop-woop. You end up in handcuffs, and soon you're behind bars being asked what neighborhood you're from (pro tip—don't say the Arts District).
The Los Angeles Police Department and other agencies are warning you about their weekend anti-DUI operations with the hope that it might prevent your incarceration or, worse, death.
Here's the 411:
-Tonight, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., LAPD will have a checkpoint waiting for you at Sepulveda Boulevard at Parthenia Street in a particularly bucolic part of North Hills.
-Tonight the L.A. Sheriff's Department will have a checkpoint up and running from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. at an undisclosed location in that summer paradise known as Palmdale.

-Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. the department will put extra patrol units on the streets of its "Shootin'" Newton Division south of downtown. The LAPD calls this a "saturation patrol."
-Sunday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. a DUI saturation patrol will hit the streets of the LAPD's Foothill Division area of the northeast San Fernando Valley.
Be safe. Live the dream.
