Griffith Observatory's End-Of-World Party Plans To Go Late Dec. 21

Defying all logic, reason, and science, the Griffith Observatory has announced it is staying open for the end of the world Dec. 21.
Not happening, of course, because you can't stay open after the world has ended! Someone failed to inform the Observatory's directors about this fact.
The folks at our famed hilltop attraction will attempt the impossible:
The Observatory plans to stay open all the way past midnight. A statement reads:
Griffith Observatory will attempt to dispel misguided concerns regarding the "End of the World" by staying open late the evening of Friday, December 21, 2012, until one minute after midnight. The Observatory normally closes at 10:00 p.m. but will remain open an added 121 minutes to demonstrate that claims regarding the Maya calendar, planetary alignments, rogue planets, galactic beams, and other related phenomena have no basis in fact.

Shuh. If you want to spend your last minutes gazing at the L.A. basin, be our guest.
The Observatory says its show that allegedly debunks end-of-world preductions, Time's Up, will be playing all day that Friday.
Griffith principals, by the way, blame us, the media, for stoking interest in these very true facts about the coming end, saying that we publish ...
... irresponsible reports online and in the media. While the "2012" scenario is based on a profound misinterpretation of the Maya calendar ...
Just you wait and see.
In the meantime, if you do want to enjoy the last day at the Observatory, organizers warn that parking will fill up early and lots will close by 10 p.m., possibly even before that.
Come early. Behave. (Extra cops and rangers will be on patrol). Try not to offer to have last-day sex with strangers. Just in case we're wrong.
