UPDATE at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2016: New dates have been announced. Details are below. First posted at 2:34 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19.

A marijuana-themed hip-hop festival has been postponed because its venue is being used for fire evacuees in San Bernardino County.

Organizers of the High Life Music Festival, which was scheduled to take place Saturday and Sunday, say that their venue's use as an evacuation center for the thousands affected by the Blue Cut Fire has forced them to cancel the weekend's festivities. The concert will be rescheduled for a future date, to be announced.

The fire started Tuesday in the Cajon Pass and has consumed nearly 37,000 acres of brush, authorities said. It's about 26 percent contained today. Mandatory evacuations for portions of the community of Phelan were lifted today, but thousands of residents remain under stay-away orders because as many as 34,500 structures are threatened.

So many homes and buildings have been destroyed that authorities do not have exact numbers, authorities said.

The San Bernardino County Fairgrounds in Victorville will become a temporary home for displaced humans and large animals alike, creating an unexpected change of plans for High Life promoters.

The party's posted lineup included big-name rappers such as Rick Ross, Yo Gotti, Nipsey Hussle, Waka Flocka and more. Organizers said marijuana patients with California medical cards could toke up and purchase cannabis in designated areas.

They said attendees could even get a doctor's recommendation on the spot.

"The show is NOT canceled," organizers said in a statement to ticket buyers. "It is being postponed and pushed back. We're securing the new date very soon. Please be patient and sympathetic as we get through this. We will throw an amazing event. Give us a little time as we're very close to securing the new date very soon."

We reached out to promoters and to the venue but did not hear back.

UPDATE at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2016: Organizers have announced new dates — Sept. 24 and 25 at the same venue. Tickets for the August dates will be honored, promoters said.

"Most of the lineup is the same," a representative for the festival said.
