Facebook to Establish Offices on Los Angeles' Westside: Do You Like?
Facebook is coming to Los Angeles. "Like" or unfriend?
The Palo Alto company has signed a letter of intent to lease 8,000- to 15,000-square-feet of office space at the Tishman Speyer complex in Playa Vista, according to the Los Angeles Business Journal.
The move puts a lot of major new media players on L.A.'s Westside, including ...
... Google, which recently took over the Frank Gehry binocular building in Venice, MySpace, which is in Beverly Hills, and its parent Fox Interactive, which has offices in El Segundo.

Yahoo has offices in Santa Monica. Several major video game studios call Santa Monica and the Westside home (EA, Rockstar, if we're not mistaken). And Google is also rumored to be leasing additional space in Beverly Hills too.
All this action has some tech watchers calling the Westside "Silicon Beach." That title, however, is already used by some to describe the Qualcomm-led tech scene near La Jolla in San Diego.
(Let's all come up with a new name for this high-tech community on L.A.'s Westside: Silicon Body Parts Alley? Walk of Games? Nerd Basin?).
Brandon Beck, founder of Santa Monica's Riot Games, tells the Journal:
The Westside is an attractive place to live and that's important for attracting high-potential candidates, For us, we've had to draw from talent locally and bring talent in from the rest of the country and the world.
Facebook, apparently, is bursting at the seams as a result of rapid growth. It's also moving its headquarters from Palo Alto to Menlo Park to make way for more employees.
