Two Ezell Ford protesters were booted from a downtown event this morning after trying to speak to Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.
The people doing the booting were Los Angeles police officers, who said the leaders from the group Black Lives Matter Los Angeles were trespassing at a private affair.
The party crashers, Patrisse Cullors and Melina Abdullah, were not arrested, a representative from the organization told us.
The rep says the duo were told by a Garcetti liason to wait, ostensibly to see if the mayor would meet. But then they were confronted by two or three cops.
"This is the second time that black women have been forcibly removed from speaking with Mayor Garcetti," according to a Black Lives Matter statement.
The incident took place around 8 a.m. today at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel as Garcetti welcomed "delegations and mayors of Guangzhou, China and Auckland, New Zealand to the first Tripartite Summit of the three cities," according to a mayoral schedule.
Black Lives Matter, part of a national movement decrying police shootings of unarmed African American men, has been trying to sit down with the mayor regarding the Aug. 11 killing of Ford, a mentally ill man who was shot by a pair of Los Angeles police officers.
The organization wants the mayor to push for the firing of Los Angeles Police Department Chief Charlie Beck, who has found no fault with the cops in that confrontation.
On Tuesday the Los Angeles Police Commission disagreed with Beck and found that both officers violated policy in during the confrontation. Beck will decide if those cops will face sanctions.

A spokeswoman for Black Lives Matter Los Angeles says the group was led to believe the mayor would meet with its representatives, but so far no sit-down has been forthcoming.
So they've been hounding his honor, first by demonstrating outside residence and now by confronting him at public events.
A spokesman for the mayor said it wasn't clear if he had agreed to meet and that he would look into it.
