Sure to spark debate, a number of outlets in recent days are noting that Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was a marijuana user.

Already, West Coast cannabis proponent Russ Belville of the "Russ Belville Show" podcast is defending weed and calling out others for calling out pot:

He writes at the Huffington Post:

Let's see, there are 26.1 million annual tokers, 17 million monthly tokers, and 2 million daily tokers in America. Two of them are alleged terrorists. That's literally, at best, a one-in-a-million risk.

Of course, there have been plenty of studies that correlate weed use with possible psychosis (see this and this).

And both alleged Aurora theater shooter James Holmes and Tucson massacre suspect Jared Loughner were said to be pot users at some point in their lives.

But friends told reporters that Tsarnaev was a true stoner -- a daily toker.

What that meant for his state of mind is anyone's guess.

For us the biggest thing these three guys (Tsarnaev, Holmes and Loughner, not to mention Seung-Hui Cho, the accused Virginia Tech shooter) have in common is that they're men from the same generation -- young psychos allegedly bent on destruction.
