DUI Patrols Hit Hollywood, Downtown L.A. Tonight
This summer in January stuff might make you want to go out and party like it's the 4th of July. Woo-hoo!
Understandable. But also understand that Los Angeles Police Department officers, some in short sleeves, will be on the hunt for drunk drivers this weekend, rain or shine.
The department says that warning motorists about where its cops will be and when they'll be there actually reduces drunk driving:
Research shows that traffic collisions involving an impaired driver can be reduced by up to 20 percent when well-publicized DUI checkpoints and proactive DUI patrols are conducted routinely.
