Douglas Collins, L.A. Homicide No. 207: 47-Year-Old Man Shot Down Outside Home In Vermont Vista
A black man fatally shot outside his residence on Thursday, October 14, has been identified as 47-year-old Douglas Collins. The shooting took place on the 600 block of West 117th Street in Vermont Vista at about 10:30 p.m., the Los Angeles Times reports.
LAPD Criminal Gang and Homicide Detective Scott Smith told the Times that Collins was seen on the sidewalk speaking to someone in a vehicle just before neighbors heard gunshots and called 911.
Collins was pronounced dead at the hospital an hour later.
Police are still searching for suspects. Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call Detective Gerry Pantoja at (213) 485-4341.
