DogTown Original Bob Biniak Dies
Original Z-Boy skater Bob Biniak died of "massive cardiac arrest" last weekend in Florida, photographer Glen E. Friedman writes.
The Zephyr team skater hailed from the Venice/Santa Monica area made famous by the Hollywood film Lords of Dogtown. He was a pioneering empty-pool rider and made the top-10 of Skateboarder magazine's top skaters in 1977, according to Friedman.
"Back in DogTown's heyday Biniak was known as one of the toughest, hardest skating dudes out there," Friedman writes. "Few could match his skills."
The shooter said Biniak left behind a wife and baby daughter.
