Dodger Boycott Is On For Saturday: What Can You Do Instead?
Just a reminder that picketers will be outside Dodger Stadium at noon on Saturday, urging Frank McCourt to sell the team. They will also be encouraging fans to boycott the game in protest.
It's hard to imagine that a one-day boycott could do more financial damage to McCourt than he has already done to himself. But heck: It's worth a try.
So what are the Dodgers doing to counter this groundswell and get those turnstiles moving? Well, let's see...
Tomorrow is "Jake and the Never Land Pirates" Bandanna Day out at the ballpark. Who or what is that? Who knows, but the first 10,000 kids will get a free bandanna, courtesy of Disney. (Prediction: There will be leftover bandannas.) Also, the cheerleaders from South Gate High School will be performing in center field before the game. So there's that.

If you choose to boycott, what can you do instead?
Well, it depends on what you're in the mood for. Sunset Junction was canceled, but there's still a full calendar of events. For one, tomorrow is the last day to catch Loud Flash: British Punk on Paper, an exhibition at the Honor Fraser Gallery. It's also the last weekend to see the Center Theatre Group production of "This" at the Kirk Douglas Theater. There's also the Ed Ruscha exhibit at the Hammer Museum, and 1001 Inventions: The Golden Age of Muslim Civilization at the California Science Center. Been meaning to get to that one.
If you want to boycott the Dodgers but you're still desperate for baseball, you're in luck. The Angels are out of town, but you can head out to Rancho Cucamonga to watch the Quakes take on the San Jose Giants. "Superbox" tickets are just $12, and the parking is free.
Take that, Frank McCourt!
