D.A. Investigating Claim That Councilman Alarcon Has Been Living Outside Own District
The Los Angeles District Attorney's office is investigating a claim that City Councilman Richard Alarcon has been living outside his district, which would be illegal, the office confirmed to L.A. Weekly Thursday.
On Tuesday the D.A. served search warrants on two residences tied to the the Valley representative, one his wife owns inside his district -- a Panorama city home that he has claimed is his official residence -- and another one she owns outside his district, in Sun Valley, according to the D.A.
"The Public Integrity division of the District Attorney's office is investigating a complaint we received that the councilman is allegedly living outside of his district," said D.A. spokeswoman Jane Robison. "We just executed search warrants on Tuesday. We can't comment other than that."
Alarcon told the Los Angeles Times that "I'm confident ... it will be seen as a very simple misunderstanding."
