The 30th L.A. Marathon course will be illuminated by 124 skyward spotlights Friday night thanks to race sponsor Asics.

The display will be to "celebrate the 30th edition of the race by honoring its history and creating a series of larger-than-life activations across Los Angeles," according to a statement from the athletic company.

The high-power, vertical beams will illuminate the 26-mile route from Dodger Stadium to Santa Monica. According to Asics:

The spotlight installation will include 124 spotlights, totaling over 7.5 million lumens — the equivalent of 29,100 bulbs, which is the largest known marathon course lighting activation ever, and will be visible from high vantage points all around the city.

To set up the magic, a team of 85 people, many using 26 stake-bed trucks, will install lights at 27 locations along the route, Asics reps said.

A private lighting ceremony will precede illumination at 8:40 p.m. Friday, Asics reps said. The lights will be on until 10:15 p.m.

The main race was moved up from 7:25 a.m. to 6:55 a.m. Sunday because of concerns about runners enduring "record heat" later that day.

Enjoy.
