CicLAvia Los Angeles Bike Ride Planned For Sunday: 7.5 Miles of Streets to Be Closed
CicLAvia in October.
The first one was such a success that a second CicLAvia is scheduled to take place this weekend, when 7.5 miles of city streets will be closed to cars so that tens of thousands of bicyclists can take part in this ride.
This one heads through the heart of the city [added]: on the same route, from Boyle Heights to downtown to Westlake to Koreatown and into Hollywood and Silver Lake.
It happens from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (map):
Ride this way.

The event, embraced wholeheartedly by L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, is modeled after Ciclovía, a similar ride in Bogotá, Colombia.
Organizers plan to do another one in July.
Added: Brad Rehak, spokesman for CicLAvia, tells us organizers hope to beat the last one's estimated 100,000 participants.
He also says that they would eventually like to bring the ride to the Westside, although such a route isn't likely for the next two CicLAvias planned for July and October.
"The route will event go to other parts of the city," he said. "Some of the advisers have spoken to folks in Westwood and Samta Monica, but it's still a ways away."
Another dream: A regularly scheduled monthly CicLAvia, something Villaraigosa has suggested.
