CicLAvia Is Coming to the (Gulp) Valley!?
You Westside snobs who travel to New York more often than you get to the loathed Valley will have to hold your noses.
Lo and behold: The celebrated daylong, car-free bike ride that is CicLAvia is coming to the San Fernando Valley for the first time ever. What's more, the organization says the Valley will be a regular stop each spring.
We had to check our map app to find this mysterious place of strip malls, strip clubs and sushi joints.
The inaugural ride takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 22, which is part of the first weekend of spring. According to CicLAvia, the route includes ...
... 5.5 miles along Lankershim Boulevard between the North Hollywood Metro Red Line stop at Chandler Boulevard and the Universal Studio Red Line stop, and along Ventura Boulevard between Campo de Cahuenga and Coldwater Canyon.

It will "highlight some of the gems of the East Valley including the North Hollywood Arts District, Universal City, the historic Campo de Cahuenga, Studio City Farmers Market and the famed Sportsmen’s Lodge," organizers said in a statement.
Gems? Valley? We're kidding. We love this place known as "just over the hill."
The Valley ride will be the first of four CicLAvias for 2015 that also include Pasadena, Culver City/Venice and the "Heart of LA.," the organization says.
Feb. 7 walking tours of the increasingly cool community of North Hollywood will foreshadow the spring ride.
CicLAvia co-founder and executive director Aaron Paley is described by his group as "a proud Valley native:"
People are always asking us ‘When are you coming to the Valley?’ and we are thrilled we can finally tell them, ‘March 22!. This is our first time in the Valley and it is by no means our last. We plan on making our spring slot an annual exploration of different parts of the great San Fernando Valley.
Local city Councilman Paul Krekorian said, "I’m so proud to welcome CicLAvia to the Valley for the first time this spring."
It's about time.
