Californians Favor Arizona Immigration Law
More Californians favor Arizona's controversial immigration law than oppose it, according to a USC College/Los Angeles Times poll released over the weekend (PDF).
The poll found that 41 percent of the Golden State voters surveyed strongly approve of the law, while 36 percent strongly oppose it. Overall it's favored by 50 percent of the respondents, versus 43 percent who said they're against it.
Asked whether they would still support a candidate who had an stance on Arizona that did not reflect their own, 33 percent said probably and 26 percent said no way.
Perhaps, then, actions like this constitute political overkill.
