Busty Manikins At Tarzana Lingerie Shop Under Watchful Eyes

A Tarzana lingerie shop's busty manikins -- big breasts, small waist, skimpy underwear -- are being checked out by city Building and Safety Department and code enforcement officials after Los Angeles city Councilman Dennis Zine received a complaint about the bodacious bodies, according to the Daily News.

Susie Arazy, the owner of Susie's Delights at 18633 Ventura Blvd., tells LA Weekly the main manikin in question doesn't show off any more skin than those skinny framed models at Victoria's Secret: "One lady she has a problem with the one mannikin that has big breasts. It's not fair."

The neighbor, Tracy C. Taylor, wrote in a letter to Zine that the manikins are "XXX-rated" and that they sometimes occupy a public right-of-way, the sidewalk, outside the store. She says her children have to look at the big-breasted things when they pass the lingerie shop.

The displays, however, are apparently within the law.

Arazy thinks there's discrimination against bigger women at work here: "Victoria's Secret mannikins and models show the same amount of skin, but because they're smaller there's not an issue. We do cater to larger women, which is what most women are today. Every woman should embrace her size."

Last week we reported on Lane Bryant's allegations that ABC had refused to air a Victoria's Secret-like ad that featured a plus-size model in lingerie.
