Bryan Stow: Suspect Giovanni Ramirez Gets an Alibi; Is This Case Falling Apart Already?
Added: TMZ has photos that might or might not prove the suspect wasn't at Dodger Stadium that day -- after the next page.
Was Giovanni Ramirez, the man suspected in the near-death beating of San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow on Dodgers opening day, even at the game?
That's the question being tossed out there, deliberately, by an attorney who represents some members of the suspect's family. Ramirez, arrested Sunday, was being held on a parole hold as police continued to investigate.
This means, at least to us, that ...
... investigators don't have all the goods they need yet to bring the case to the District Attorney's office.
TMZPhotos of the suspect that a lawyer says prove he wasn't at the game that day.
And already there are complications. For one, Ramirez's photo was mistakenly released to the media, and some news organizations published his photo before taking it down Sunday.
That could taint a goal by the LAPD to have witnesses pick the 31-year-old from East Hollywood out of a suspect lineup -- a possible key to their case. (If no one saw him there, then what? If some recognize him from the photo circulated by the media, then then any alleged connection to Stow is tainted).
Now the attorney, Chip Matthews, told TV news stations in L.A. that the man's 10-year-old daughter is willing to testify that dad was with her and other family members all day on March 31, when the 42-year-old Bay Area paramedic was beaten, presumably for just being a Giants fan.
Stow remained in critical condition at a San Francisco hospital this week.
Another man wanted in the beating, along with a female described as a getaway driver, continued to be at-large.
Matthews described the daughter as "a beautiful, smart young lady and she will happily testify ... The believability that she brings to the table will serve him well.''
Is this case falling apart already?
Added: TMZ published photos (above) of Ramirez' ex-girlfriend and some other pals at a park near the stadium that day. The idea here is that this proves Ramirez's claim that he was at an apartment babysitting for her that day.
