A 7-year-old boy was "clinging to life" today following a shooting last night in West L.A., police said.
The attack injured two others, including a man and a woman, according to the LAPD. It happened on turf controlled by the Playboy Gangster Crips gang, in a community off La Cienega Boulevard known as Crestview.
The boy ...
... was said to be in serious condition. The other two victims were said to be "stable," according to an LAPD statement.
When cops arrived to the shooting scene in the 1900 block of Corning Avenue about 9:05 p.m. last night, the department says, they discovered that one of the three had driven the wounded to a nearby hospital, presumably the Kaiser West Los Angeles Medical Center that's within walking distance.

According to LAPD:
Officers also observed numerous shell casings in the area along with other evidence.
The shooting was right behind a bustling shopping center known as La Cienega Plaza, which includes a Toys "R" Us, Staples and L.A. Fitness.
Cops indicated they had only vague descriptions of "suspects," who drove off in a white car, according to the department.
The Playboy Gangsta Crips have long had a beef with the Mansfield Crips to the east and the Shoreline Crips in Venice, though there are Latino gangs in the area that also have had wars with the group.

[Updated at 9:44 p.m.]: LAPD Det. Gus Villanueva told us the boy died at a hospital about 7:30 tonight.
He said police were looking for four males who fled in that white car; suspect descriptions remained vague.
