Arrest in Shocking Red Line Subway Murder
Sheriff's officials over the weekend announced they have made an arrest in the shocking murder of a man who was riding on a Metro Red Line subway train in East Hollywood.

Angelo Correia, 25, was arrested Friday and booked on suspicion of murder, according to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department.

... security video led detectives to the suspect. He was arrested in North Hollywood after cops served a search warrant at his residence, deputies said.

The victim, 34-year-old L.A. resident Jose Velasco-Alvarado, was stabbed as he sat in a Metro car, authorities said. The crime was discovered after the train stopped beneath Vermont Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard, a Metro spokesman said.
According to a sheriff's department:
The victim was reportedly sitting in a seat on the train as it approached the train station. The suspect approached the victim and stabbed him one time before exiting the train and fleeing the train station.
Alleged motive was not revealed. Correia was being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
