Arnold Issues Virtual Finger To Opponent
A gubernatorial veto of a state bill that would have helped to fund projects along the San Francisco waterfront contained a not-so-hidden message of "f--- you," according to several reports.
The printed version of the veto contained just that array of letters, spelling out the insult vertically along the left margin. The bill was sponsored by a nemesis of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, who had recently heckled the governor during a Democratic event at which Schwarzenegger spoke. He called the governator a liar for helping to cut state funding of AIDS programs.
Apparently the governor got the last words. A spokesman for Schwarzenegger denies that the message was intentional. But Ammiano, of all people, says he minds the veto more than the insult.
