Animal House: USC Frat Suspended in Rape Cases
University of Southern California vice president for student affairs, Michael L. Jackson, has announced the suspension of Lamda Chi Alpha. The fraternity is suspected as the location of
sexual assaults against three women Wednesday morning. According to the Associated Press, one 19-year-old woman said she passed out at a Lambda Chi Alpha party and awoke to find herself partially clothed. A brief Daily Trojan item reports the woman claims she drank punch that may have been spiked with something besides alcohol and believes she may have been assaulted. Police and campus safety officers searched the frat house Thursday morning.

The alleged assaults occurred during the fraternity's Watermelon Bust, an annual six-day philanthropic fundraiser. This year some of the event's proceeds are to help a fellow Lambda Chi Alpha member, Marcus Garfinkle, who was one of two students struck down off campus in a hit and run accident more than two weeks ago. Garfinkle was hospitalized with serious injuries; the other student, Adrianna Bachan, died.
