'America's Most Wanted' Subject Raymond Lemone Easter Arrested In Connection With Pot-Shop Murder Of Matthew Butcher

It was a day that will live in infamy in L.A.'s medical marijuana world:

Two people were killed in separate pot-shop robberies on Thursday, June 24, and one of the victims, Matthew Butcher, was the son of Julie Butcher, a city labor leader who's regional director of Service Employees International Union Local 721.

His stunning death prompted a hardcore manhunt by the Los Angeles Police Department, and late Wednesday cops said they had arrested 27-year-old Raymond Lemone Easter, who was featured on Fox's America's Most Wanted.

Easter was caught in Van Nuys Friday, police said in a statement.

Police indicated there still might be more suspects on the loose in this case. But the two that have been named have been collared. Daniel "Scooter" Hinton was arrested July 21 and awaits trial on charges of murder and attempted murder.

Butcher was shot, and a coworker was wounded, in the late afternoon robbery at Higher Path Holistic Care Collective in the 1300 block Sunset Boulevard in Angeleno Heights.

That night violence broke out during a robbery of Hollywood Holistic in the 1600 block of North El Centro Avenue, where a man was killed.

Police never connected the heists, but the back-to-back violence brought up serious questions about the safety of the city's nearly 600 weed emporiums (since reduced by city decree).

A triple murder in West Hollywood last month only punctuated the fears: Authorities said three men were fatally shot in an apartment over four pounds of pot. At least two of the three victims were believed to be involved in buying and selling pot to and from dispensaries.

The lesson here? Whether it's cash or cannabis, high-value commodities will make people do bad things for green.
