Amber Lyon and the Media's Paranoia Over Underage Sex Trafficking
Last week's cover story focused on how Ashton Kutcher was using spurious data to claim there are "between 100,000 and 300,000 child sex slaves in the United States today," but he's not the only one causing panic with those numbers. There's also CNN reporter Amber Lyon, a member of the media you'd expect to do more fact-checking than the guy who's about to replace Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men.
This week the Village Voice's Tony Ortega takes a close look at Lyon's stories and concludes she's less interested in reporting facts than making folks squirm about sex. The Voice also has video of Lyon helping raise funds for one of the organizations mentioned in her report.
