Detectives continued to investigate at the scene late this morning.
City News Service reported that a dark-colored sedan was spotted driving away following the shooting.
The neighborhood is sometimes referred to as "the black Beverly Hills." L.A. City Councilman Bernard Parks, a former LAPD chief, has a residence on Don Milagro Drive.
Update: The victim was ID'd in broadcast reports as Alonzo Ester, 67. He reportedly owned Dynasty Restaurant and Lounge in Inglewood.
Police said the man was sitting in his car when someone walked up and fired two shots.
His brother told ABC7 that the victim had arrived home from the club when he was attacked.
But it wasn't clear if robbery was involved.
