Alleged MySpace Predator Is Said To Be Pro Wrestler
A tipster tells LA Weekly that a man suspected of luring a 12-year-old girl for sex via MySpace is a pro wrestler who works in the Mexican lucha libre style of grappling under the name Chippy Sanchez. Similar tips came in the form of comments to an OC Weekly post about the alleged predator.
Matthew Castaneda, a 33-year-old Anaheim man, was expected to be arraigned Tuesday for allegedly sexually assaulting the girl last week after meeting her at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa and taking her to an Anaheim motel for sex. He is charged with two counts of lewd acts on a child under 14.
The tipsters say Castaneda worked for World Power Wrestling, an Orange County outfit that puts on weekly bouts of the masked, Mexican stagecraft at the Marketplace in Anaheim. A photo of Chippy Sanchez shows a man with what appear to be chipped teeth. WPW describes itself as "the only professional wrestling promotion in Southern California that runs every week."
Castaneda was on parole for domestic violence and for violating a restraining order, authorities said. Anaheim police said workers at Zaby's Motor Lodge described the suspect as a frequent customer, so they're concerned that there might be other victims out there.
