Rapper 50 Cent was charged with domestic violence and vandalism stemming from a June 23 incident at the Toluca Lake condo of his former girlfriend, authorities announced this afternoon.
The charges come on the third day in office for new City Attorney Mike Feuer, who had this to say about the case:
Regardless of perceived celebrity or notoriety, domestic violence is a serious crime and alleged perpetrators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law by this office. We will continue to look out for the safety of all victims of domestic violence and seek justice for the alleged crimes.
The charges include one count of domestic violence and four counts of vandalism, according to the office
Authorities allege 50, born Curtis Jackson, tore the ex-girlfriend's place up last month. The two had a three-year relationship and share a child, according to the City Attorney's office.
Here's the summary of the allegations from that day:
During an argument, Jackson allegedly began destroying the female's property. Allegedly when the female locked herself in her bedroom, Jackson kicked-open the bedroom door and kicked her, causing an injury. An estimated $7,100 in property was allegedly damaged by Jackson during their argument. Responding officers observed broken chandeliers and broken furniture throughout the female's condo. Officers also observed a ransacked bedroom closet with the female's clothes thrown all over the floor as well as a broken television and lamp. Jackson departed the scene prior to officers arriving.

Prosecutors say that if they're successful Jackson, 37, could face five years behind bars as well as $46,000 in fines.
It doesn't appear, at least according to L.A. County Sheriff's inmate data, that Jackson has been arrested in connection with the case. City Attorney's spokesman Frank Mateljan tells the Weekly that "a letter will be sent requesting his appearance at arraignment."
He's due in da court July 22 to face that music.
