Which LA Bands Should Be On the Cesar Chavez Biopic Soundtrack?
From the HR:
Screenwriter Keir Pearson and Larry Meli have optioned life rights to make a biopic about civil-rights activist and labor organizer Cesar Chavez.
Pearson, who will write the feature screenplay, is producing with Meli for Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna's Mexico-based Canana Films. The rights were controlled and granted by the Cesar Chavez Foundation; negotiations were handled by Chavez's son, Paul. [...] Pearson, repped by Benderspink, was nominated for an original screenplay Oscar in 2005 for co-writing "Hotel Rwanda" with the film's director Terry George.
Casting should be a no-brainer: Garcia Bernal or Luna probably have dibs on Young Cesar (maybe both of them, a la I'm Not There?), and if they don't cast Eddie Olmos as the mature Chavez, Gael and Diego and their mamas tambien might have an unfortunate accident. (Besides, we all wanna see Admiral Adama ranting about "UVAS NO!")
But how about the soundtrack? This should be an opportunity to compile the best LA Chicano music compilation ever. Who do you think should be represented?
