Since its early days at Tempest (now Crown Bar) in WeHo, Underground's meld of Brit pop, '60s sounds and post-punk attracted fun, young, stylishly sheared but refreshingly unironic crowds. Undergrounders have always had a respect for live rock & roll, but they've never been too cool to boogie to DJs later in the night, and the club's combo of both helped it thrive and even revive when it moved across town to the Echo a couple of years ago. Celebrating its ninth anniversary this Friday, it welcomes back the OG (original 'grounder) DJ lineup: Dia and Mark, along with club creator Larry G and residents Diana & Clifton. We hear a five-person tag-team set at the decks is not out of the question. Live bands include longtime club faves The Tender Box and Satellite Crush. The Echo, 1822 Sunset Blvd., L.A.; Fri., Jan. 29; over 18; $5. twitter.com/clubunderground. The next night, Blow-up L.A., Hear Gallery and Automatico join forces for a "redo" of the Good Hard Times party they debuted on NYE, with a ton of artists, DJs and music makers including 8-Bit, The Monolaters, Dirty Dave, Filip Turbotito and others. Hungry or just attention-hungry, GHT's got ya covered with photos from Shadowscene and food from Señor Fish, where the good times go off. 422 E. 1st. St.; Sat., Jan. 30; over 21; $8 before 11 p.m., $10 after. myspace.com/theheargallery.
