Tonight: Nite Jewel, Here We Go Magic, Natacha Atlas, Heavy Young Heathens

There seems to be a lot on Ramona Gonzalez's mind these days, at least judging from the title track to Nite Jewel's new EP, Am I Real?

"How did it get so wrong with me?" she asks at the outset, moving on through a spandex-worthy web of bass, beats and synth to wonder "What can I say for myself?" and to wrestle with titular question. Existential quandaries aside, her sweet voice sounds real enough, though maybe reincarnated from the 1980s.

Except for buzzed-about remixes of songs by Caribou and HEALTH, the EP is the first new music from Nite Jewel since last year's buzzed-about debut album, Good Evening. She and bandmates Cole M. Greif-Neill and Corey Lee Granet are working on a new one, of course, and among her collaborators is Dam-Funk.

Am I Real? is coming on vinyl Aug. 16, and her summer tour dates in support of it include a show tonight at the Echoplex featuring Memoryhouse, Baths and Kisses.
