Tonight: Fitz & the Tantrums, Robyn, Blonde Redhead, Natasha Bedingfield, Ferraby Lionheart, Bear Hands, Papercranes
Can we get an exclamation point for Fitz & the Tantrums?
The stylish purveyors of old soul helmed by Michael Sean Fitzpatrick and Noelle Scaggs have had a quite a 2010. They started the year practically as a novelty -- a slick band with nice EP and a great live show. They've ended up signed to Dangerbird Records, their debut album Pickin' Up the Pieces picking up steam and getting love from a cross-section of music fans.
You'd think L.A. has had enough of its Fitz fix, but apparently not. Tonight's show at the El Rey Theatre is sold out. Dance rockers AWOLNATION and hotly tipped newbies (you heard it here first) the Belle Brigade open.
Elsewhere: Swedish sensation Robyn, her Body Talk trilogy now complete and giving fans happy feet everywhere, plays a sold-out show at Club Nokia. ... And U.K. songstress Natasha Bedingfield visits the Troubadour as the Dec. 7 release of her third album Strip Me approaches.
