The band has been inactive since the 2004 release of their fifth album California Clam Chowder, which was followed by a series of shows at Spaceland.
With Monday night's free show at The Echo serving as an intimate warm-up gig, Thelonious Monster will join The Vans Warped Tour on Thursday Aug 20 in Mountain View, CA for four shows, including Sun. Aug. 23 at The Home Depot Center in Carson.
Bob and the Monster is a feature documentary chronicling the story of charismatic singer/songwriter Bob Forrest, from his days as front man of the indie-rock band Thelonious Monster, through his life-threatening struggle with addiction, to his triumph and transformation into one of the most influential drug and alcohol counselors today. The film also presents a rarely seen glimpse of the 1980s Hollywood punk rock scene, relived through interviews with Bob's friends and peers, including members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fishbone, Jane's Addiction and many more. With exclusive archival performance footage, plus additional interviews and vérité footage of Bob himself, documented over the past 5 years, Bob and the Monster offers a unique and inspiring insight into the life of a troubled poet whose long road of suffering, redemption and hope has become a testament to the healing power of music.
